COOKING CLASSES

Leslie’s whole food cooking classes are for people who seek a healthier lifestyle and a natural approach to diet and healing.   

  • Learn how to bring more balance, flexibility, and joy into your life through the power of food. 
  • Discover the health benefits of a whole foods diet consisting of grains, land and sea vegetables, beans and bean products, fruits, seeds, nuts and natural sweeteners. 
  • Create macrobiotic cuisine, international cuisine, foods in healing, home remedies, sugar free desserts, seasonal gourmet dinners, and more. 
  • Discover the healing potential for conditions such as weight gain, food allergies, candida, emotional imbalances like depression and stress, acne, PMS, cancer, osteoporosis, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, diabetes, arthritis and others.

Only the freshest, organic, seasonal ingredients are used in a variety of sumptuous and enticing ways. 

 

Recipes are low in fat and salt but high in fiber and complex carbohydrates, and contain no refined sugar, dairy, or other chemicalized and refined ingredients.   

 

Classes include an introductory lecture, demonstrations, some hands-on experience, free recipes and educational material in a friendly, relaxed, and casual atmosphere.  All questions welcomed during the cooking classes.

 

Private lessons are more detailed and tailored to your own personal health concerns and goals and can be done in your own home or hotel room.

PERSONAL CHEF SERVICES

  • Meals are prepared in your home or hotel room.
  • Menus are created according to your taste or health condition and consist of grains, land and sea vegetables, beans and bean products, fruits, seeds, nuts and natural sweeteners.
  • Recipes include macrobiotic cuisine, international cuisine, foods in healing, home remedies, sugar free desserts, seasonal gourmet dinners, and more. 
  • Recipes are low in fat and salt but high in fiber and complex carbohydrates, and refined or chemicalized ingredients are avoided.
  • Local and organic ingredients are used whenever possible.

 

BASIC FORMAT OF A MEAL

 

Meals generally consist of a combination of the following: soup, grain, bean/protein, sea vegetable, side dish, and dessert.  The menu may be altered to fit into the 3-hour time period as certain dishes take longer to prepare than others.

 

The customer may request special dishes or styles of cooking.  Otherwise, I build the meals according to macrobiotic principles (e.g., local, seasonal, organic ingredients; a person’s health condition; and the basic format of a meal)

 

FEE

 

$35/hr cooking time, with a 3-hour minimum

 

$15/hr shopping time

  • I typically provide a list of menu ingredients for the scheduled date and the customer can tell me what they already have in their kitchen and what I should pick up at the store
  • Alternatively, the customer may do the shopping

$15/hr travel time outside of the Honolulu area
